The 2003 State of Fair
of Louisiana will be held October 17th with the sheep breeding and
Showmanship held on October 17th. Market lamb show will be October 18th.

Lambs will be shown by breeds. The breed classifications have been
changed to the following:
1. Suffolk
2. Hampshire
3. Natural Color
4. Black Faced Crosses/Other Black Faced Breeds
5. White Faced Crosses/Other White Faced Breeds
Lambs will be DNA tested and ear tagged. DNA test and tag entry
dates are June 15 thru July 21 (cards to be sent back to the State
Fair by July 21)
Breeding animal possession dates dictate continuous possession and
ownership from July 1, 2003. A copy of registration papers of all
breeding animals must be submitted with the entry form by September
7.
Junior Livestock Sale
Animal owner must be present to sell animal or the entry with be
disqualified from the sale. The sale of the champions will continue
to be a terminal sale. No commercial resale of animals in 2003. All
animals will be sold in single lots. Exception: Exhibitors who have
two animals of the same species MUST sell both animals in one lot.
Showmanship Premiums
The State Fair of Louisiana and the Ark-La-Tex Agricultural Council
will award $100 to each Junior, Intermediate and Senior Division
winner. The check will be given at the sale and winners must be
present to receive the premium, as the award will not be mailed.
The Premium Catalog will not be printed as a hard copy for 2003. It
is currently available on the internet. For exhibitors who may not
have computer access: call the State Fair of Louisiana Livestock

LA BRED TAG ORDERS
LA Bred tags are now available. Requests must be submitted in
writing. Tag orders will not be filled by phone.
Market lamb tags are $8.50 for each tag ordered and $1.00 handling
fee with each order, not each tag ordered.
Breeding tags are $5.00 per tag with a $1.00 handling fee. Please
make sure you include payment with your order and that dues are paid
in full. Tags will not be sent unless payment is made for tags and
dues paid.

Deadline for ordering tags for State Fair: June 25th
Deadline for ordering tags for Spring Show: October 15th
Dues run from November 1st thru October 31st.
Please note that the scrapie identification number will be
used in place of the flock tattoo number. On order forms, please
enter that scrapie number on the place indicated. If you do not have
a number, it will be necessary to use the information in the next
column to obtain a number. If you do not provide a number, tags will
not be sent to you.
